Action – The amount of money wagered by a player during an entire playing session

Advantage Player – Casino player that gain some kind of advantage over the house. This is typically used for card counters in blackjack but can also apply to online players who know how to gain value from bonuses to gain an advantage

Add-on – In poker, the facility to buy additional chips in tournaments

Aggregate Limit – Total payout liability of a casino during any one game

Aggregate Winnings – Cumulative or total winnings

Ante – Initial stake into a poker pot in order to receive cards and enter active play

Banker – Dealer of the house

Bankroll – The amount of money a player has to gamble with

Barred – Also known as banned. Not allowed to enter the casino premises permanently

Bet – Amount of money put at risk for the chance of winning

Betting Limits – The minimum and maximum amounts of money that a player can wager on one bet

Bonus – Extra money that could be given to a player for meeting certain requirements

Burn Card – Remove cards from the top of the deck which is discarded after a shuffle or before a new round of cards is dealt


Card Shark – An expert card game player

Card Washing – A card shuffling technique where the dealer spread the deck on the table face down and mix them around

Cash-out – The act of withdrawing money from an online casino

Chip Tray – The tray used by a dealer that holds the table’s inventory of chips

Chips – The tokens used in Casinos to represent cash

Cold Streak – An extended run of bad luck

Color up – The act of exchanging smaller denomination chips for larger denomination chips

Croupier – A French word for Dealer, in charge of running a gaming table

CSM – Continuous Shuffling Machine

Cut Card – A card of a different color that is used to cut a deck of cards


Dealer – A casino employee in charge of running the gaming table

Degenerate Gambler – Someone who gambles frequently and excessively

Deposit – Adding funds to your online account using your preferred payment method

Deposit Bonus – A specific type of casino bonus that you receive for making a real money deposit to your online casino account

Deposit Method – The payment method used to deposit funds to your online casino account. It may be in form of credit cards, debit cards, e-wallets, and bank transfer

Download Casino – A type of online casino that requires you to download software in order to play the games


Even Money Bet – A wager with payout odds of 1:1 (the potential amount won is equal to the initial stake)

Expected Win Rate – The amount a player can expect to pick up during the playing period

Eye in the Sky – A term used for the security cameras used in Casinos to monitor the gaming tables


Face Card – Any jack, queen or king in a deck of cards

Flat Betting – A betting style where the amount you bet is the same amount for each play


Gambler’s Fallacy – Also known as the Monte Carlo Fallacy. A belief that the outcome of a random event is influenced by previous outcomes

George – A slang term used by dealers to refer to a player who tips well

Gross Winnings – The total amount returned from winning a bet or a series of winning bets


High Roller – A player that places large bets during a gaming session

Hot Streak – An extended winning run

Hot Table – A gaming table where all or most players are winning


Instant Casino – A type of online casino that allows you to play directly from your web browser


Jackpot – The biggest win possible, usually associated with slot machines or video poker


Loyalty Scheme – A scheme offered by online casinos to reward players for their wagering activities

Live Dealer Games – An online casino games where players can play against real dealers via a live video stream


Marker – A credit line from the Casino that allows a player to make a high-value play

Multi-Hand Game – Casino games where players can play more than one hand at once


Net Winnings – The profit made by a player from a winning bet

Wagering Requirements – The amount you will need to bet before withdrawing any winnings associated with a bonus

Whale – A high-value player who plays for large stakes
